Accessorizing!

So I'm down another pound this morning, woohoo!  That puts me at 27.6 pounds in 26 days with the Dukan Diet!  Feeling GREAT!

So, I'm finally noticing my clothes fitting a little bit looser.  I know I have 132.4 pounds to go, and I will definitely have to have new clothes.  There is absolutely nothing in my closet smaller than a size 24.  I entered a contest on facebook to help me out with that.  I'm trying to win a shopping spree from a local store that has the cutest accessories!  So, dear readers, there is a favor I have to ask of you!  :)

Enthusiasm? Meh...

So the enthusiasm has decreased significantly since starting the diet.  I haven't jumped off the wagon or anything.  I'm just..meh.

Yesterday was day 25 and I am down 26.6 pounds.  Awesome, right?  I don't see it yet.  At 300+ pounds still, it's hard to notice smaller amounts of weight loss.  Jay has lost less than me, but I can see a significant difference in him.  The difference?  I started out over 100 pounds heavier than him.

We'll still take photos on Saturday for our 1 month before and after comparison.  I'm hoping I see it then.

I have to confess, we have cheated 1 day and we haven't been working out at all.  I'm hoping for us to get back into the gym tonight.  It's just too hot to walk outside.  But also, I'm just lazy.  That's how I got where I was 3 weeks ago.  A 342 pound blob.

We cheated last Thursday in a BIG way.  We went to a Chinese buffet.  There wasn't a thing on my 2 plates that wasn't a carbohydrate.  The next morning I had gained 5 pounds.  It took me 5 days to lose that 5 pounds.  There were a lot of things leading up to my big cheat.  I had to have blood work done at 3:00 pm that afternoon.  And I couldn't eat ALL day until the blood work was done.  We ran to get gas before going home, and a lady backed into my car.  Then while I was pumping the gas, my cousin called and wanted to stay the night with us.  We had to take him to his mixed martial arts practice.  Knowing he would be starving after the workout in 100 degree heat, we ended up waiting until almost 9:00 pm to eat.  I was exhausted, stressed, and shaking from the day, and just needed something quick, easy, filling, and comforting.

Looking back on the day, I can see several instances where I could have prevented my downfall at the buffet.  There are no excuses.  I made a choice and it was a bad one.

Cupcakes and sandwiches and chips! Oh my!

The baby shower is finally over!  It turned out great!  Really enjoyed seeing my bestie and her hubby today!  Just over a month until we get to meet the baby!

On the Dukan front, I had to make sandwiches for the shower.  I made PB&J, ham & cheese, and turkey & cheese.  I bet they were yummy!  I went through 6 loaves of bread to make it all!  And I didn't partake of a single sandwich or crumb of bread!  Yay!  They sure looked good though!

We also had chips and salsa from the restaurant that we had the shower at.  Let's just say, we struggled with that.  The Iron Cactus is one of our absolute favorite restaurants and their salsa is the bomb!  But we resisted there too!

What was the last temptation? The Sock Monkey Cupcakes!!  Ahhh!!  They looked so yummy!!  And yet again, we resisted!

Dukan Diet Week 2 - Cruise Week #1

So today is day 14 of the Dukan Diet and I am still excited! Never before have I heard of a diet that is this effective. I started this diet on June 17 with my wife, Laurie, not knowing what to expect and I must say that even after 13 days I am still highly motivated and cannot wait to reach my goal weight. According to the Dukan Diet website (www.dukandiet.com) my "True Weight" is 160 pounds and I should realistically reach that by December 31, which means that if this proves to be accurate, then my New Years Resolution for 2011 will actually be fulfilled!! How many people with 50 pounds or more have made this resolution never to see it happen? I am sooo excited!

I am extremely proud of Laurie. She has lost a total of 19.4 pounds so far (close to 1.5 pounds lost per day) since we began! Part of me is jealous of her achievement, but I am trying to turn that into positive encouragement for her in order to help keep her motivated. She mentioned yesterday that she is slowly starting to feel her clothes loosen up and I can't wait until she really starts to see it. I can tell by looking at her that the weight is diminishing, but if she is anything like me, she will have to see it for herself.

Ok, so enough talk. Here are my results for last week:

June 25 - 215.8 - Gained 0.8 lbs.
June 26 - 214.6 - Lost 1.2 lbs.
June 27 - 213.2 - Lost 1.4 lbs.
June 28 - 213 - Lost 0.2 lbs.
June 29 - 212.6 - Lost 0.4 lbs.
June 30 - 212.4 - Lost 0.2 lbs.
July 1 - 211.6 - Lost 0.8 lbs.
July 2 - 210.0 - Lost 1.6 lbs.


TOTAL CURRENT WEIGHT LOST: 13 POUNDS!!

This week was definitely an exciting one.  I lost way more than I expected to with the start of the Cruise Phase.  As you can see below, I did slack off on exercise a LOT.  Getting ready for a baby shower I'm hostessing on Sunday has taken all my free time this week.  I have to get back on track with my walking next week!
